I decided to make the lacy pink sweater as a cardigan rather than a pullover. It knit up very quickly. I'd started by making the smallest size but it looked so tiny I was afraid Ginger would outgrow it before it got to be sweater weather and I switched to the next size up. I had plenty of time to work on it during our garage sale a few weeks ago when it did nothing but rain, rain, rain all day long.
The only thing left to do is sew on the little button at the top. I found one that's star-shaped and just a tad darker than the pink of the sweater. I can't wait to see her wearing it with a pair of blue jeans! I'm planning on making the pullover version (no buttonholes, yay!) soon in Unger Utopia Lobster Bisque, a terra-cotta-like shade.
I'm still working on the Sirdar striped sweater. Here are some current shots of the work in progress:
I like the stitch used for the solid top of the sweater; I think it's moss stitch maybe?
The sizes on the Sirdar pattern seem to run awfully large to me. I'm knitting the 3 month size but it looks huge, more like 9 months. I keep checking and double-checking my gauge, and it's right on; I guess they just run big. Bigger's better than smaller, I suppose. I've finished the sweater front, back, and one sleeve (which I had to lengthen because it looked ridiculously short knit at the specified length). I have another Sirdar project waiting in the wings, I may knit this one at the smallest size just in case.
Another project-in-waiting: this Sirdar poncho and beret, knit in pink. Again. Not by my choice; the store where I bought the yarn had only the pink and a few very pastel shades in stock. Yarnmarket has a bunch of shades, though, if you're looking for something different. I love the hat and poncho combo, it'll be just the thing to keep Ginger warm during the cooler fall weather.
