In high school there was always a little unspoken friction between the cheerleaders and the 'real' female athletes. We worked our tails off running and practicing and getting sweaty and dirty, and they mostly sat around in the hallways after school, painting signs and drinking Diet Cokes. It didn't seem fair that they were able to get an athletic letter for something that took such little effort. They weren't the cool cheerleaders with actual routines who did flips and all that in Bring it On, they were the kind who stood on the sidelines gossiping and doing the same three cheers over and over, who couldn't do any dance routine in its entirety and who were pretty much ignored by the crowds in the bleachers. I thought maybe it was just girls being catty until I dated a couple of football players and they both confided in me that they paid no attention to the cheerleaders and that they considered them pesky annoyances who occasionally got in their way.
But look, cheerleaders aren't totally useless.
OMG, that's hilarious. They *chanted* the license plate?? LOL! And they got on the Today show for that?
Makes me kind of glad I was a nerd. :)

Rah! Rah! ::giggles:: I was a cheerleader in college. That story cracks me up. I love that they put those chanting skills to good use though. LOL
