More thoughts on what's new on the boob tube:
Friday night Gary and I watched Threshold. I think we both enjoyed it, although for the first hour Gary kept saying, "Where do I know that gray-haired biologist from?" I finally ran out to the computer to look him up; it was the guy who played Data on Star Trek. Even I recognized him then, and I've never seen a single episode of any of the incarnations of Star Trek.
The show itself was very good. Strong acting (love love love that they have Richard from Felicity as the geek, and Lost's Ethan as the totally creepy guy), intriguing storyline (I heart aliens), and a couple of moments that made me jump, like when the guy who they thought was dead turned out not to be dead and when Ethan was behind the chick's refrigerator door. Oh, and when Ethan reached in and grabbed Richard through the van window. Eventually I'll learn everyone's names and stop referring to them by their character names from other shows. Anyway, I liked it and I'll definitely watch again, especially considering that there's not much on Friday nights at 9.
Last night I watched How I Met Your Mother. It was cute. Not quite as funny as I'd hoped, but not annoyingly non-funny (think Joey), either. I like the cast, and Neil Patrick Harris was surprisingly one of the funniest characters. Bob Saget's voiceover was a little annoying, and the actors playing his kids were terrible; I think they could do away with that part. And, hello! What was that little twist at the end? The TV reporter's not his future wife? I'll be watching to see if it gets better with time. In the meanwhile, suit up!
I meant to tape Kitchen Confidential while watching HIMYM, but while I set the VCR, I didn't realize that it wasn't my tape but the library's copy of The Land Before Time in the VCR until halfway through the show, so I'm a little bummed about that. I love me some Bradley Cooper and Nicholas Brendan, though, so maybe I'll remember to tape it next week. I know, I know, I need a Tivo. We actually considered it but as of right now there's only one night a week we might need it (I think it's Wednesdays, when there will be three shows simultaneously on that we're interested in watching), so we can't justify the cost. For now I'll just have to make up my mind which two shows I want to watch.
