So last night I was seriously craving brownies. I'd made Alton Brown's brownie recipe a few times over the summer, and both Gary and I liked how it was less sweet, more of a dark or bittersweet chocolate flavor. I was out of vanilla, but I wanted the brownies so badly that I drove up the store just for extract.
A few hours later, I was standing over a pan of very bad brownies trying to figure out what in the world had gone wrong. The top was oddly smooth, they'd taken much longer to bake than stated in the recipe, and they tasted awful. I remembered later that I'd originally made the brownies following the recipe in Brown's book, as opposed to the one on the Food TV website. The two recipes are slightly different, but I didn't think that the differences would account for the weird confection I'd ended up with. Fast-forward to this morning, when I was roasting some pumpkin seeds. I went to microwave a teaspoon of butter, and found myself staring stupidly at a bowl full of semi-melted butter. Two sticks of partially melted butter, in fact---the two sticks of melted butter that were supposed to have gone into the brownies.
I'm losing my mind. I mean it. I've also misplaced our 35mm camera and a brand-new pair of jeans we bought for Ginger over the summer.
this is what happened to me on a regular bases when i was breastfeeding. and i breastfed my girl up untill recently, she is now 4!
i have heard someone mentioning to me that this state of being had a name which had part of the name of mad cow disease in it. i have read about it somewhere but since then i tried finding the article again and never did. possibly also a sign;-))
