One of my very favorite Christmas gifts this year was the subscription to Cooking Light that my sister gave me. In every issue I find at least five or six recipes that we like, and having access to the archive of recipes online is widening my source of dinner ideas.
In the current issue there's a little blurb about edamame, the green soybean that can be salted and eaten as a snack. I'd love to try it, but I wasn't at all surprised not to find it in the freezer section of my local grocery (which is where CL said to look for it). Anyone know if these things are sold anywhere other than health food stores? What do they taste like?
They have them a Trader Joes and Wholefoods for sure. They're those little pea- in- a -pod things that they put on the table at a sushi restaurant.

We can get them at our Super Wal-mart or Super Target. Sometimes you can find them in the produce section but they are shelled. They are also good in salads.

My mom got them from their CSA last summer and brought them to a dinner we had...completely awesome! She said they were easy to prepare...I think she found a recipe online.

i buy the frozen ones at my local stop and shop in the organic section. i actually just let the bag defrost and eat them as a snack. i'd say they taste a little like lima beans.

I was going to suggest Whole Foods (or "Whole Paycheck," as we call it) but Beth beat me to it!
